Baltimore expands free vaccination clinics to include children

City residents without health insurance, or whose insurance doesn’t cover it, can receive the vaccine for free. New dates and locations just announced

Earlier this month, when Baltimore began providing free Covid shots for adults who lack the health insurance needed to pay for them, some wondered when children would be able to get immunized through the program.

Today, the Baltimore City Health Department announced it has added new clinic dates and locations for free Covid and flu shots, some of which will have doses available for children.

“COVID infections and hospitalizations are on the rise, risking the health and wellness of Baltimore’s children and adults alike,” Mary Beth Haller, acting health commissioner, said in a news release.

“That is why the CDC [U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] strongly recommends that everyone aged six months or older get the new vaccine.”

Those who are uninsured can receive the vaccine for free on Fridays during most October and November walk-in hours at the Health Department’s immunization clinic on 1200 East Fayette Street between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Residents can view weekly vaccination clinic schedule here.

(Adults in Baltimore unable to travel to get the shots can register with the city’s Homebound Vaccination Program by calling 443-984-8650 to schedule an in-home appointment.)
