The Maryland Department of Health has identified the second positive case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Baltimore City, Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young announced today.

The case involves a woman in her 20s. The Baltimore City Health Department is currently investigating the case, according to a statement released by Young’s office.

Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Letitia Dzirasa said that her staff is working closely with the state health officials.

“I plead with all Baltimore City residents to implement social distancing measures in addition to personal protective measures to protect themselves and their loved ones,” Dzirasa said.

Residents are urged to stay home if they are sick and to avoid crowds.

“Per the Governor’s enhanced Emergency Order and updated CDC guidelines, mass gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited in an effort to enforce social distancing measures,” a press release said.
